We mean that! Our home takes up so much of our lives that we figured
it should have it's own web site. We hope to keep some kind of record here of our
first efforts in home ownership!

Yes, it hurt alot.
So ended my attempt to install a new back door in our house.

The big tree in the back yard is gone.
Took twice as long with twice the crew to get the job done.
Now we have a big hole in the yard.

Our anonymous friend and Mitzie the Wonder Dogg decided
we needed new garage doors.
Not much of a decision considering the wood
all around the bottom was rotted out.
Nice artistic touches, huh?
More on this project later!(No comments about the garage please.
That's why God invented doors.)

Ice Day!
A picture is worth 1000 words. (Or, in this case, about $1000.00.)
Our back yard will never look the same after this ice storm.
I haven't taken more pictures because it is flat out dangerous back there!
Mitzie is even tired of it...

Snow Day!
Our first snowfall in the new house. Only
took two years to happen.
Question: What does a Mitzie Dogg do on a snow day?
She watches me. What else?
Or she sleeps.

The Battle of the Backyard.
Rock 2, Rob 0.
The new back yard. Scroll down for a minute
and look at how it was before.
Go ahead. We'll wait. 144 paver stones and 5000
pounds of rock later,
it's looking pretty good!
Just in time for our Summer
"We Married You" Party!
(Mitzie helped a lot!)

Collin Makes His Presence Known!
Collin is a Special Needs child with multiple physical and psychological problems. Rob and Diane are still learning about his needs. More on this as time allows!
(By the way, Diane is out of her cast! The same week Collin arrived. Coincidence? I think not...)

April, 2003
Diane gets yet another cast.
Bummer.
With
high hopes, we went to the doctors this afternoon,
sure in our hearts that Diane would be DONE
with her cast after today.
But her doctor had other ideas.
You can tell by her x-ray that the bone still is not healing properly.
4 more weeks, this time in good old Red, White, and Blue!
(I guess we keep the wheelchair for another month.)
Rob works on the bathroom for the 27th time...
I
have done this so many times I could do it in my sleep.
Perhaps that's the problem.
Either that, or the bathroom is haunted.

Diane Decorates
for the Spring Holidays.
Diane had her foot surgery on January 13th,
2003
and is recovering very nicely. Special thanks to everyone
who sent flowers, cards and nice thoughts.
Nice looking cast, huh?
(Those are shamrocks.
Not bad,
really, considering it's made out of fiberglass.)
((Mitzie says "Hi"!))

This is Mitzie. We adopted each
other.
We are sure she will have her

Another Birthday.
Rob gets to wear a fish on his
head.
What more can I say?
Nothing to do with the house,
other than I am getting older
and don't move as fast as I
used to.

The Great Break
This is an X-Ray of Diane's right
foot.
Give your self 10 points if
you can find the fracture.
Diane spent the summer in a
cast, and now the doctors say she
might need surgery for it to
grow back together right.
This has a lot to do with the
house. Being as how she needs to stay
off of it as much as she can,
Diane couldn't work in the yard as
much as she wanted.
More on this story as it develops.

Where the City of Vancouver
Drops the ball...
(and the bark dust.)
ooo
Refresh you memory about the
front of our house.
Notice anything different?
That's right! The juniper is
gone! Dale and Rob pulled them out with
a chain on a large truck.
Then the City of Vancouver landscaped
for us.
Not willingly of course. In
fact, it was all a big misunderstanding.
Ask Rob for the details.
(But let me tell you, "free" is
a great price for a crew of eight
to come and rake, bark dust and lawn seed your
front yard.)
January 17th, 2002
at McGrath's Fish House
Guess who had a birthday?
Better yet, guess who got to
wear the famous
Fish-On-The-Head hat?
This has nothing to do with
the house, but I thought
this was a nice picture.

The Great Kitchen Sink Disaster
Innocent looking picture, huh?
So much for things going smoothly.
Diane tells the story much better
than Rob does.
Lets just say the floor got
mopped REAL good that night.
And I bet the neighbors are
still talking about Rob being outside
at the water meter wearing only...
October 21st, 2001
Let There Be Light...
The original hall light. I think
we kept it.
That's not Rob taking it down.
That's how it was when we moved in.
Don't even ask how the wiring
was...
Diane and Rob have become, much
to our suprise, quite the handy persons.
Rob's brother Dale helped install
a new hot water tank in our first weeks in.
Several light switches and outlets
needed replacing, and it was a bit of work
getting the washer and dryer
installed. But things seemed to be going smoothly.
Rob replaced the baseboard heaters
without shocking himself too badly this time.
The original bathroom light.
We tossed this one.
Notice the mirror image effect.
(I planned that.)

Deck Removal
Where Rob removes his nemesis.
We don't know how many times
we hit our heads on the roof walking out to the back yard.
Who owned this house? People
under 4' 9"?
The back deck didn't want to move without help, so...
...here's Rob helping it out.
Notice the For Sale sign. We
kept that.

The Saga Begins...
Here it is! The home of
our dreams!
We didn't get any pictures of
the inside. Too bad! Under this quiet exterior was a monster!
Leaky sinks, no hot water, no
heat, yard filled with weeds and smoke damage.
In other words, perfect
for us!
You might remember that September
of 2001 was an eventfull month for America.
It was for us as well. Our beloved
dog Snookie passed away just a few days before this picture.
Diane's Grandfather passes away
a few days later.
She got home from the funeral
on September 8th.
Rob had his largest wedding
to date on his birthday, the first weekend
after September 11th.
We still don't know how we
managed to buy it.
We think the file is still sitting
on someones desk.
